What makes the 2024IE PRO different from the Standard 2024 PRO?
Adjustable I:E Ratio – Normally, without this option, the I:E Ratio is fixed at 1:2, that is, 1/3 of the period of each breath is inspiration and 2/3 of each breath is exhalation. Regardless of the respiratory rate, the animal patient will always have 2/3 of the cycle to exhale. This I:E ratio can also be adjusted to a fixed value other than 1:2 at no extra charge.
The adjustable range is from 1:1 to 1:4. The pros and cons are that this option affords the operator more flexibility in dealing with animals that have compromised lung function. But during anesthesia most animal patients are lung healthy and the addition of this control can add to the complexity of setting the ventilator. For example, consider that you have a hypocapnic animal patient. To bring that animal patients’ CO2 level to a more normal range you must decrease the overall gas exchange, the Minute Volume (MV). Without this option, only one knob controls the MV, that is the Volume control. With this option, however, increasing the I:E ratio would also cause a reduction in MV.
Hallowell Model 2024IE Pro
The Hallowell Model 2024IE Pro is an advanced, volume‑constant ventilator specifically engineered for small animal patients. Its rugged, microprocessor‑controlled design delivers precise, reliable ventilation across a wide range of species and clinical scenarios. Trusted by veterinary practices, specialty hospitals, and teaching institutions, the 2024IE Pro supports both routine anesthesia and critical care applications.
Key Features and Benefits
- Volume‑Constant Ventilation: Maintains preset tidal volume regardless of changing lung compliance or airway resistance (20–3,000 mL range).
- Adjustable I:E Ratio: Variable from 1:1 to 1:5 (standard 1:2) to meet species‑specific respiratory timing needs.
- Precise Breath Rate: 6–40 breaths per minute programmable via digital control.
- Manual Breath Control: Instant manual inspiration available for induction or special interventions.
- Pressure‑Limited Safety: User‑adjustable maximum working pressure limit (MWPL) range of 10–60 cm H₂O per breath.
- Dual Airway Pressure Alarms: Audio/visual alarms trigger if Peak Inspiratory Pressure (PIP) exceeds MWPL or drops below 6 cm H₂O.
- Low Supply Gas Alarm: Activates when supply O₂ pressure falls below 35 psi (resets above 40 psi).
- Visual Breath Indicator: Clear display of delivered breaths on the bellows.
- Integrated Oxygen Flush: Bypasses the ventilator to rapidly deliver 100% O₂ to the circuit.
- Versatile Compatibility: Works with circle and non‑rebreathing systems; interchangeable bellows (0–300, 300–1,600, 1,600–3,000 mL).
- Compact & Durable: Measures approx. 10″ × 11″ × 9″ and weighs 13–20 lbs, depending on configuration.
Clinical Applications
- Veterinary surgical suites for general and specialized procedures requiring controlled ventilation
- Emergency and critical care units managing patients with compromised spontaneous ventilation
- Specialty/referral hospitals handling high-risk or complex surgical patients
- Veterinary teaching programs are training in safe mechanical ventilation
